A: Yes, anytime of the day, 7 days a week.
Q: How do I get a concealed handgun license application
A: You can contact Texas DPS directly, on Texas DPS website, or directly from me in class.
Q: How much will a concealed handgun license cost?
A: For most people- $140.00 plus class tuition fees.
Q: If I am licensed in Texas, can I carry my concealed handgun in another state?
A: Your license does not allow you to carry a handgun in another state, unless that state recognizes a Texas license. To find out, contact that state or refer to my website.
Q: What methods of payment does the Texas DPS accept?
A: All forms, cashier’s check and money orders are quickest. Personal checks are accepted, but may delay the processing of the application until the funds clear the bank.
Q: Can I get my money back if my application is not approved?
A: Fees are non-refundable. Please check to make sure you are eligible before you apply.
Q: Once I have sent in my application, how soon can I expect my license?
A: Usually within a couple of months, but the state is allowed up to 180 days. The department will notify you if there is a problem. If there is a problem, it could take more time.
Q: How long are license good for?
A: Initially 4 years and after your first renewal it is 5 years after that.
Q: How old do you have to be to receive a CHL?
A: You must be 21 years of age or older, unless you are active military, then its 18 years or older.
Q: How do I get a concealed handgun license application fingerprints completed?
A: You must obtain your fingerprints directly from L1 enrollment systems and the cost is $9.99.
Q: Will I need to have a gun before I begin my training class?
A: No, You do not have to have a weapon for training class you can rent one from me for $30.00 and you must provide 50 rounds of ammunition.
Q: Can I start carrying a concealed handgun when I complete the class?
A: No, You can not carry a concealed handgun until you have received your license in the mail from DPS.
Q: Do police officers have the right to disarm me?
A: Yes, a TCLEOSE certified peace officer in the State of Texas can disarm a citizen for any reason at any time.
